One Mistake

A homeless man sits on the street,
Shivering in the mighty cold.
Blue, the colour of his lips and feet,
An empty cup  he does hold.

He quietly asks for little donations,
No one stops to give him a dime.
We just walk by without hesitations,
But why doesn't he deserve our time?

All he wants is something to eat,
He's not asking for a full banquet.
Maybe a safe place with some heat,
He would really appreciate a blanket.

All he did was make one little mistake,
It cost him his house, kids and wife.
Now he's desperate for a break,
We all deserve a second chance in life.

So next time you walk down that street,
Be kind, show him you actually care.
A warm coat? A hat? Or socks for his feet,
He's trying his best in so life so unfair.
